Capitalize all words except articles and pronouns, both in the title of your own essay (which must not be underlined or italicized) and in the title of books and journals (which must be italicized).
You may add clarifying punctuation between the title and subtitle of the book, especially if the typesetter of the book’s title page has inserted a line break instead of punctuation. If the title page of a book reads as follows –
Theatre, court, and city
1595-1610 –
the title that you give in the body of your essay or in your Works Cited must read Theatre, Court, and City, 1595-1610.
Likewise, use title case for the titles of journal articles (which must be placed inside double quotation marks).
